This aptly named bay surrounded by imposing mountains and ice cliffs is a microcosm for the entire Danco Coast region. It was made famous by Bagshaw and Lester who in 1921 spent a year voluntarily living under an upturned water boat recording tidal and other environmental observations. They gave their name to local features and exploits are commemorated at water boat point on the northern side of the harbour.
